The Secure Future...

Overall, our experience in the wireless house was a positive one and i can definately see a future for this idea. When living in the house, it seemed that the normal everyday stresses were completly lifted. There was no hassle in organising breakfast, making sure food was in the house etc and this was a great bonus as the time i was able to spend on my own or with my family was greatly increased. On a negative point, before moving into the house, we should have looked at the risks involved in trying something like this. Back in 2008 when i can remember wireless internet was relatively new, it was common for people to attempt to connect to other peoples internet when not supposed to. In retrospect this was going to be a similar problem with this idea. If there are people able to hack into a network that includes a families personal details, money and basically entire life then they will surely do it. We paid the price of this when money was taken from us due to the breach in personal security. However, i do think that this should not be a put off for other people wishing to try this way of life as i am sure it is a glitch that can be fixed. All that is needed is an increase in security for each individual house. The benefits of the wireless technology will surely make a huge difference in the near future.

Back To Reality...

After the incident of having money taking from our account due to the insecurity of the wireless environment, we felt that placing all of our trust in this system was not the right thing to do. Socially, this house had done us wonders, all of our friends and family were in awe about the surroundings we lived in, but as a familiy we didn't feel as secure as we should have done. In all fairness, we were one of the first families to experience and wireless orientated world and perhaps we were to hasty in undertaking this as the chances of mistakes being made, and imperfections was almost inevitable, and it took a family like us to draw out these flaws. So as a result we decided that leaving this house was the best thing to do and return to our original way of life. Of course moving back into a house where we personally had to go out and buy groceries, make the breakfast, and deal with bills etc was strange and almost a pain to have to do but this is what felt right.

The Day That Ruined It All...

It was the 12th October when i first realised that something was a bit odd. Bills and everything were being paid automatically for me but out of habit i still occasionally checked the money that was going out of my account. It seemed that the prices of the bills were quite high, at first i put this down to the fact that the house i was living in contained top of the market goods and technology so thought that the increased prices were due to that! However, upon inspecting the bills again i noticed the prices were gradually getting bigger and bigger! It then came to my attention that money was being added on to the bill but then skimmed off the top!! Someone was stealing from me!!! This is what i had been worried about in the first place...someone hacking into my network and stealing from me! This had to stop, who knew what information they had got hold of! My wife, my children could be at risk! Something had to change, and fast.

Moving In Day!!

Finally the day had come to move into the new house! I was nervous and excited at the same time but it felt really good to be one of the first people of our time to move into a house that is the pinnacle of technology.

Once everything had been moved in we had to sinc everything up to the master hub in the house. All of the equipment in the house were included in the price and were the latest models. For example, the fridge that we got had a built in wireless adapter that can connnect to the internet and order the groceries if the contents of the fridge are getting low! When everything was in place, i was handed the remote that was in complete control of everything in my life! Over the next few weeks, i was told to input everything into the remote that i thought could be taken care of with the wireless. This included things like what i wanted for breakfast and when i wanted it. I'd set it that on a Saturday morning, i would have a full english breakfast ready for me at 10 o clock on the dot! This is brilliant! All of the small annoying things that used to take up so much of my time in my previous life were gone! I found that all of the stresses were lifted and i seemed to have a lot more spare time on my hands!

My Worries...

Obviously when the agents were trying to sell the house to me they didn't want to talk about the possible downsides to the wireless environment i would be moving in to. It wasn't until i was reading the newspaper that i came across this headline!! 'hackers can turn your home computer into a bomb'!! I never thought about the possibilities of people hacking into the wireless networking surrounding my entire life! If someone was able to crack into the network, they could steal money, goods or even plant virus' etc. I control the heating in my house, using the remote control to deal with temperature and gas etc. If someone got into the gas system then potentially i could be in a lot of danger. Even though there are so many risks, this feels like an opportunity too good to miss!!

Moving In...

This is the image that first attracted me to the 'Wireless House'. Everything is covered!! I was told by the estate agent that i could be lying in bed and making toast at the same time! Can you imagine? I negotiated a price with the agent and am going to hopefully move in on the 17th April of this year (2013)! Im very excited...however i do have a couple of worries that i will discuss in a later post...

The Wireless House...

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT THE WIRELESS HOUSE!!!
Luckily for me I came into a substantial sum of money last year and have decided to purchase...the new wireless house!!!! I had heard about this but couldn't quite believe it, supposedly a group of houses have been built that are entirely wirelessly based! All i have to do is carry a remote control and can operate ANYTHING within my house. Over the next couple of posts you will see the progress i make of moving into my new house...the difficulties i have and the experiences i come across...
